Adam A. Olis, 90, of Wadsworth went to be with The Lord peacefully on May 10, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on November 28, 1926 in Dixonville, PA to the late Frank and Theresa Olis of Gary, IN and he grew up in Gary, IN.

He was an avid athlete and sports enthusiast. During WWII he served in the Army Air Corp and was stationed in Japan with post-war occupation forces.

He earned a Civil Engineering degree from Purdue University and worked at PPG Industries in Barberton, Ohio. He retired from PPG in Pittsburgh, PA as the manager of projects.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Wadsworth. His interest were his family, his pets, breeding and racing homing pigeons. He also enjoyed reading (especially the Bible), following sports, traveling and spending time whistling in his rocking chair.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Erica after 53 years of a wonderful marriage and his five brothers.

Adam is survived by his sister Elizabeth Brier (age 100) of IN, children: Mary (the late Ed) Winkler of Rittman, Mark (Erna) Olis of NV, John Olis of New Philadelphia, Laura (Gary) Lobaza of AZ, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was well loved by his family and community and an inspirational role-model to his children and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 2-5 pm Sunday May 21, 2017 at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12pm, Monday, May 22, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 272 Broad St., Wadsworth.

Interment with military honors will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
