Sally Mae O’Neill was born September 26, 1933 in Willard, Ohio and entered eternal life on July 31, 2021. She was the oldest daughter of Lee and Raphael Mager.
First and foremost, Mom had a deep faith and love of the Lord. She passed that on to her children and for that we are so grateful. She brought joy to so many people in her life and especially those at the Village of St. Edward in Fairlawn, Ohio. She loved living there and the wonderful caretakers loved her as well. If we were to ask Mom how’s she doing right now she’d say “marvelous darling, absolutely marvelous, or just fantastic” because that’s how she lived every day, in spite of her physical challenges.
Married to the love of her life, Tom, for 63 years, she was always proud to share that with any and all who would engage her in conversation. She loved Dad and missed him every day. Now they are reunited and we are certain of that because of her faith and love of our heavenly Father. Mom and Dad were devout Catholics who for years attended daily Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Wadsworth, and carried that same faith to St. Ed’s.
So they said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life;
whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life and I shall raise him on the last day.” Jn 6:35; 40
Our parents invested their lives in fun ways to spend time with friends and especially their family. They loved the time spent at their cabin at Seneca Lake and the condo in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. They invested in wonderful relationships in those communities and reaped the reward of lifelong friendships. They cherished the countless great memories that were enjoyed over the years in all those locations and more. We carry on these legacies that Mom and Dad began together.
Mom’s life was indeed a life well lived, filled with love, happiness, faith, family and friends. She was a long-time member of the Bud N Bloom Garden Club, volunteered for Wadsworth Meals On Wheels and sang in the Sacred Heart of Jesus choir for many years. She was adored by her children and their spouses and most especially, all her grandchildren and their spouses too. She did get to see one of her granddaughters get married last November which brought so much joy to her to see her family after nearly nine months of lockdown due to Covid.
We would especially like to thank Fey and Toni who cared for Mom like she was their own mother. They were life savers during the time when we couldn’t see her. They were her surrogate daughters who loved Mom and gave her the most extraordinary care imaginable. We thanked God every day for the blessing they were to her and all of us.
She is survived by her sister-in law and brother-in-law, Joann (Steve) Damko and brother-in law, Patrick O’Neill, her six children, Mike (Ann), Patrick (Pam), Tim, Kelly (John) Baumer, Polly (Howard) Anthony and Toby (Melissa); She was adored by her grandchildren, Shannon (Lance) Hayes, Erin and Levi O’Neill, Patrick (Sarah) O’Neill, Lauren O’Neill, Luke (Elyse) O’Neill and Mari (Chris) Eggleton, Sarah, Jack and Shane Baumer, Brendan (Sarah) Anthony, Brooke (Danny) Stull and Meghan (Cody) Cox, Connor and Maggie O’Neill; great-grandchildren, Holly Hayes, Holland, John and Sloane O’Neill, Luke and Jaxson O’Neill, Elijah, Anthony and Chase Stull, Aidan Anthony and Baby Anthony due in October, Graesyn and Jaeden O’Neill and Baby Cox due in January 2022.
We would love for all who knew Mom to come and celebrate her life with us. Bring a picture or tell a story. We’d love to hear them all.
