Robert William Ovendorf, age 89, passed away on December 8, 2021. He was born in Akron on October 12, 1932 to the late William and Harriet (Nystrom) Ovendorf, and had lived in the Akron area all of his life.

Mr. Ovendorf was employed as Director of Procurement at Goodyear Aerospace, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He attended both Akron University and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Robert was a member of the DeMolay of Masonic Youth and his hobbies included golfing, fishing, woodworking, building furniture, and photography. Above all, Robert was always there for his family.

Preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Joyce Saladie, he is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Karen Shap of Punta Gorda, Fla.; son, Eric Ovendorf (Michele) of Charlotte, N.C.; grandsons, Jason and Tyler Shap, Peter and Kevin Ovendorf; and sister, Judy Cole (Robert).

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 11th, at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, with Rev. Dr. Bill Liming officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Facial coverings will be required at all services. Inurnment will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park.
