David A. Parrish, 71, passed away June 24, 2014, after a 19-month battle with brain cancer. He was born and raised in Goodyear Heights, graduated from East High School in 1961, and attended the University of Akron. He also served in the National Guard training to be a medic until his medical discharge in 1965. He lived in the Akron area until moving to Wadsworth, Ohio, in 1975.
David worked for B.F. Goodrich in the conveyor belt department, first building then supervising. He later did consulting work in conveyor belts for Garlock Rubber in Paragould, Arkansas. David also owned and operated the Brew Thru Drive Thru in Wadsworth for 11 years. After retirement he worked part time for DH&L Building Supplies in Wadsworth, Koppes Clay Products in Seville, and Midwest Engraving in Wadsworth.
David took pride in his work, his home, and his family. He enjoyed the beach and spending time with family and friends, as well as washing and polishing an array of old and new cars and trucks over the years, the most recent being a 55 Chevy. He also enjoyed sharing old stories with friends from his graduating class of 1961, staying in touch through the years, especially at reunion time. David will always be an East High Oriental rather than a Dragon.
David was preceded in death by his parents H. Clark and Marjorie, his brother John, an infant son Andrew, and a good friend Jack. He is survived by his wife of 47 years
, sons Clark of Copley, Tim (Connie) of Wadsworth, and Charles (Brenda) of Jackson Township, grandchildren Bobby, Danielle, Bailey, Casey, Brody, Zoe, Brooklyn, Grace, Mack, and Charlie Pearl Jean, and his brother Gary (Diane) of Clinton, New York.
Many thanks to the nurses and caregivers of the Hospice of Medina County for the kind home and inpatient care they provided during Dave’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center at P.O. Box 2095, Surf City, NC 28445, or the Academy of Music for the Blind at 156 North Primrose Avenue, Monrovia, CA 91016.
The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth where funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm Saturday. Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery Twinsburg, OH
