Bob Patterson, 92 of Wadsworth, Ohio, passed away Tuesday March 24, 2015. He was born July 3, 1922, in Kenmore, Ohio, to Cazzie and Ruth Patterson. Bob attended Kenmore High School.

Bob enlisted into the Army in November of 1942. He was honorably discharged in January of 1947. During his service he spent time at Camp Russell in Egypt as a technician, and at Arlington Hall Station in Virginia as Guard Patrolman and Military Policeman. It was at Arlington Hall Station where he met the love of his life Lillian “Jodie” Jodoin. They were married September 12, 1944, and enjoyed the next 69 years of life together.

Bob returned to Akron after being discharged from the Army and found employment with Alside, Inc. He joined the company shortly after its inception and spent the next 32 years, his entire working career, as their traffic manager. As the company grew in the siding business, so did Bob’s responsibilities, and when he retired he was managing a fleet of more than 20 trucks that delivered siding across the country. He enjoyed his career at Alside, loved meeting and working with people, and enjoyed the challenges that came along with managing a department.

Bob’s interests varied from golf to classic car restoration. He loved cars and anything to do with cars, and owned over 50 during his lifetime. He could talk for hours about cars and had many stories to share about each one he owned. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, and traveling around the United States and around the world. He also enjoyed square dancing and he and Jodie square danced around the country and Canada. Bob was a member of First Christian Church in Wadsworth.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Lillian “Jodie” Patterson. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Cheryl Gerberich and Derek Gorman, sister Ruth Stemple, sister-in-law Irene Jodoin Steele, Gertrude Jodoin Busch, and Norma Jodoin, brother-in-law Alfred Jodoin, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday March 27, 2015, at First Christian Church, 116 East Boyer Street, Wadsworth, Ohio. Reverend James L. Singleton will officiate. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Medina County.
