Barbara A. Pfahl, 86, beloved mother, grandmother, and wife passed away on Friday November 11, 2022.

A nurturing and compassionate soul, with much overlap between family and friends, Barb dedicated her life to helping and caring for those around her.

Barb was raised in Cuyahoga Falls, attended college at Western Reserve University (BA) and Kent State University (MLS). She left her first career at University Hospitals to raise her two children. She delivered meals on wheels to the elderly in Medina County, and was a Girl Scout leader.

In 1980, Barb began her career as a reference librarian at Wadsworth Public Library while earning her MLS. Barb had an inquisitive mind, a love of books, and a skill for listening that she used to help countless patrons find answers to questions from obscure to practical. Barb served 25 years until retiring as the Head of the Reference Department.

Barb’s hobbies included nurturing plants and animals alike. Barb was a keen gardener, loved Rhododendrons, Azaleas, and Dawn Redwoods, and cared for many pets. She was a fixture of the Christmas holiday tradition around Medina County greeting people at the family Christmas tree farm.

Barb is survived by her husband, her sister and brother, her daughter and son, and her three grandchildren.

The family invites friends to gather from 10-11AM Wednesday, November 23 at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N Lyman St, Wadsworth, OH 44281. A private interment will be held for the family at Ira Cemetery.
