Gordon Baker Phillips III, 75, of Wadsworth, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022. He was born June 12, 1946 in Lodi, OH to the late Gordon Baker Phillips Jr. and Margaret (nee Sharps) Phillips. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. While in Thailand he started an International Boy Scouts Explorers Post 255. After returning home he was employed by Morton Salt as an Industrial Mason and worked for over 30 years until his retirement. Gordon was a Boy Scout and never forgot his roots of scouting. He was a scout leader for many years for Troop 401 at Grace Lutheran Church. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved camping, canoeing, fishing, hunting and teaching family and friends about his love of the outdoors. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League, the Wadsworth Hunt Club and Medina County Bottle Club. He loved to spend time at the family’s cottage in Michigan.
Gordon is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law: Beverly and Vernon Luntsford and Patricia and Robert Mooney all of Wadsworth, his nieces and nephews: Michelle (Ron) Roda, Brian Luntsford, Bethany (Tom) Kovacevich, Jessica (Dominic) Accordino and many beloved great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 11am -12pm, Monday, March 21, 2022 at Hilliard Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth. A memorial service will be conducted at 12 Noon with Pastor Sarah West officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
