Obituary
Clair L. Pifer, 86, of Wooster, passed away Monday, August 1, 2011, at his home surrounded by family. Clair was born April 12, 1925, in Lodi, OH, to the late Thomas and Dora Pifer.
Clair went to be with his Jesus whom he witnessed for and served for over 56 years and attended Eastern Road Church of God in Rittman. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II and earning 2 Bronze Stars in his duties in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a carpenter and auctioneer for 45 years. He was President of Akron Full Gospel Business Mens Fellowship. He enjoyed playing his harmonica and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians.
Clair is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Virginia “Ginny” Pifer, his daughters Carol Pifer Perry of Rittman, OH, Peggy Pifer Kaszian of Largo, FL, son Dennis Pifer of Akron, OH, grandchildren Samantha and Jennifer Kaszian, Anthony Pifer and Monica Pifer, Sarah and Jeremiah Perry, 6 great-grandchildren, and his sister Rose Martin of Lodi, OH.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 8, from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, August 9, at 12 NOON at the Eastern Road Church of God, with Pastor Ferron Cole officiating. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastern Road Church of God, 2600 Eastern Rd., Rittman, OH, 44230, or the Wooster American Legion, Post No. 68, 1901 Sylvan Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
