William Carl Poe, 89, of Wadsworth passed away January 5, 2019. William was born September 13, 1929 in Winston Salem, NC to the late Clyde and Lillian (Newell) Poe. Mr. Poe proudly served 4 years in the US Army and met his wife Zenzi while stationed in Germany. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage together. William joined the Army Reserves and continued to serve his country for 15 more years. He liked to dance, bowl, have coffee at Sonnets, read and watch old cowboy movies. But his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. William drove truck for over 30 years working for MFX and Allsides trucking Co. He also was an instructor for Hamrick driving school, he taught until he was 83 years old. William is survived by his daughter, Chris (Steven) Shriver, grandsons; Derrick (Becca) Shriver, Bryan and (Tiffany) Shriver all of Wadsworth along with his beloved great grandchildren, Mason, Sydney, Maddox and William. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Zenzi (Mairle) Poe. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St.. Wadsworth where services will be conducted Tuesday at 9:30am. The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the entire staff at CoalRidge for their wonderful care William received for the last year and half.
