Joyce E. Reiter, 93, of Wadsworth, passed away on July 4, 2016 and is celebrating her new independence with her Savior.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Joyce was born December 11, 1922 in Detroit, Mich. to the late Arthur and Clara Britshart. She was a member of Golden Agers and a past member of Grace Lutheran Church and Ridgewood Baptist Church. She was married 65 years to her true love, Paul Reiter, and very much missed him after his death.

Joyce enjoyed life as it came, believing that “it’s what you make of it.” A child of the Depression Era, Joyce and her family moved often to wherever her father found work. Once she and Paul were married, they settled in Wadsworth, a town she loved, and lived for 60 years in the house they built together.

Joyce enjoyed her family and extended family and was involved in her grandchildren’s lives as much as possible.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Reiter, in 2012; sister, Dot James; and grandsons, Nicholas Reiter and Steven Stirgwolt.

She is survived by her sister, Phyllis (Elton) Boyer; children, Tom (Carol) Reiter, David (Andree) Reiter and Donna (Bill) Stirgwolt; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Ed) Tomlinson and Alissa Reiter; Danielle and Tom Reiter; Abbey (Seth) Roy and Ben (Amanda) Stirgwolt; as well as nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9 at the Hilliard Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robin Hart officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
