Robert D. “Denny” Rothacker, 77, of Wadsworth, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014. He was born on May 26, 1937 in Wadsworth to the late Ted and Mary Margurite Rothacker.
Mr. Rothacker was a graduate of Wadsworth High School class of 1956, graduated from Heidelberg University in 1960 and received his Masters Degree from the University of Akron in 1971. After graduating form Heidelberg University he served in the U.S. Army. Denny then returned to Wadsworth and began teaching elementary school in the Highland School District and later transferred to his alma matter Wadsworth. In addition to being a fantastic teacher he was a motivating football coach for 20 years and also coached track and golf. In recent years he became a member of First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Nanette Rothacker on April 8, 2004, sister Betty Jones and nephew John David Jones III.
Denny is survived by his wife Mary Ann, Daughters Susan Rothacker of Akron and Diane (Mark) Gangle of Copley.
He was the best PaPa in the World to Kyle and Katie Gangle. Denny is also survived by his niece Nancy (Jim) DeLong, and nieces and nephews in the Jones and Himmelright families and his step-children Jim (Mugsy) Reynolds, Jill (Jim) Caton and Jeff (Tara) Reynolds.
The family will receive friends 2-4 & 7-9pm Thursday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth and from 10-11 am Friday at First Christian Church 116 E. Boyer St., Wadsworth where funeral services will be conducted at 11am with Rev. James L. Singleton officiating with fellowship immediately following. Interment will be at 2:30PM in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with Military Honors.
