Margaret (Marge) Ruhlin (Kulick), 78, died October 30 at her home in Wadsworth from the effects of a brain tumor. She leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Chuck; five children and their “add-ons” – Ann (John Bulchik), Susan (Mike Baker), Charlie (Angie Ho), John (Robyn Hicks), and Julie (Cheryl Madden); and ten grandchildren who will forever remember their much-loved Grammy.  She is also survived by her two brothers, Paul and Joe Kulick.

Marge graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1954 and went on to earn a nursing degree from St. Thomas Hospital in 1957. She worked as a nurse at St. Thomas, then in Detroit at Providence and Henry Ford Hospitals. She and Chuck returned to Ohio (first to Columbus and then to Wadsworth), where Marge focused on raising a family and volunteering in her community. She later worked for, and retired from, the Area Agency on Aging.

Her true calling was to be a mother, and she dedicated many years to raising and caring for her children. She made birthdays and holidays special, and even after her children had left home, she always made room for them, their partners, and their children when they returned. Marge also enjoyed traveling the country with her husband to visit her children and grandchildren. Through years of leading by example, Marge and Chuck engrained in their children a clear sense of the central value of family.

Marge spent countless hours volunteering in her community. For years she worked with FISH, as a church youth group leader, with special needs youth at Sacred Heart, and with the local chapter of M.A.D.D.  Later in her life, she found joy volunteering with her precious dog Daisy as part of the Doggie Brigade at Children’s Hospital in Akron and teaching young students to read with the OASIS program at Wadsworth Schools.

Marge dedicated much of her life to caring for others – family, neighbors, friends, and strangers. She was a dear friend to many, too numerous to name, and her warm smile and caring, generous spirit made an impact on people wherever she went.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Hilliard-Rospert funeral home in Wadsworth, and Friday, Nov. 7 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace church in Barberton.  Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Nov. 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace.  Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth at 2:30.

In lieu of flowers, Marge’s family would appreciate donations to the Medina County SPCA or Wadsworth FISH.
