Ruth Monica Wagner, 90, passed away on May 13, 2017. She was born in Norton, OH to the late Anthony and Johannah Hilt, and spent most of her life in the Barberton/Wadsworth area.
Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Melvin Wagner and a wonderful mother to Joan (Mike) Csora, Mark (Becky Lonteen), Martha (Rick) Sprow, John, and Lynne (Vince) Garrett. She was truly blessed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Brian (Rachel McFall) Csora, Ami (Joe) Caporaletti; Heather (Chris) Powell and Alexandra and Rileigh; Kerri Sprow, Arron Sprow, Jonathan Sprow, Slava Sprow, and Giorgi Sprow; Justin Wagner, Chad Wagner, and Jacob Wagner; Brady (Anna) Garrett and Beaumont, Ryan (Kelly) Garrett and Camden, Dylan Garrett, Colton Garrett (dec.), Logan Garrett, and Luke (Joanna) Garrett.
Ruth and Mel enjoyed traveling all over the world during their 57 years of marriage. They both enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and socializing with their many friends. They were devout Catholics and were members of several programs within the Church (Eucharistic Minister, Altar & Rosary Society, Holy Hour, etc.)
Ruth raised her 5 children and then went to college and earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development, which she had already many years of experience. She volunteered at the Community Pregnancy Center and also at Sacred Heart School Second Grade among other wonderful organizations.
She spent her last few years at The Village of St. Edward Independent Living still playing bridge almost every day with her recently acquired and old friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 272 Broad St., Wadsworth, OH with Father Joe Labak officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior from 9-10am. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic School, 110 Humbolt Avenue, Wadsworth, OH 44281; The Village of St. Edward, 3131 Smith Road, Akron, OH 44333, or one’s favorite charity in Ruth’s honor.
