Charles Joe Samic went to be with the Lord on the 3rd of September, 2017, after a 2 year battle with cancer, Charles (Chuck) unfortunately lost his fight at 92 in the comfort of Hospice at home, surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born in Moon Run Pennsylvania to Michael Samic Sr. and Mary (Golic) Samic on September 24, 1924.
Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Eleanor (Williams) Samic, children, daughter, Marcia Samic, sons, Dennis (Deborah) Samic, Ron (Cindi) Samic, and Bill (Becky) Alexander (grandson) who he thought of as a son, grandchildren, Dawn, Jill, Blake, Ashlea, Mistydae, Josh, Juliebeth, Jenna, Sarah, , great grandchildren,  Nicole, Tony, Joey, Mitchell , Thomas, Haley, Jaxson, Lennox,  Bexlee, Ryan, Allison, Jacob, Matthew, Dylan, Anthony Joe, Wyatt, Chase, Ashley, Hunter, Bryn, Ryan, and brother Harry (Renee) Samic., as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary Samic, daughter, Marianne, sister, Mary Tyska, brothers, Rudy, Mike, Willie, Richard, granddaughter, Heidi, and great grandson, Carter.
Charles was a lifelong resident of Wadsworth – Rittman area. He graduated from Rittman High School.  He was a member of Wadsworth Lodge 385 F&A M. where he served as Worshipful Master 1968, and 1981.  He was a member of Wadsworth Eastern Star Chapter 102 where he served as Worthy Patron 1971 and 1979.  He was a US Navy World War II Veteran who proudly served his country from 1942 – 1945.  MM on the USS Ellyson ((DD-454) in both the Atlantic and Pacific arena.
He taught himself carpentry, and became a true craftsman in the trade.  There wasn’t anything he couldn’t build.  He was a man who gained a great knowledge through books and life experiences.  God blessed this family; he was the greatest husband, dad, and grandfather. He was the strength in our family.  He has entered into his eternal home now, but he left us with many wonderful memories and will remain in our hearts forever, till we meet again.  He will be remembered for his contagious laugh, his undying love, his endless support, and his inspiring faith in God.

The family would like to thank, Summa Hospice, his nurses Niki, and Christine, and his nurses aid Nicole for the care they provided.  He cared for all of them.

Family will receive friends 5 – 8 Friday, September 8, 2017, with Masonic Rites at 7:45pm, the family will also receive friends Saturday from 11am until 12 noon at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth, Ohio, where funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday, September 9, 2017, with Pastor Christopher Harley officiating. American Legion Post 170 Honor Guard will perform the Military Funeral Honors, with Flag presented by a member of the US Navy.

Entombment will take place at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Rt 3, Wooster, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Charles’ daughter, Marianne (Samic) Johnson.
