Beverly L. Scherba died on Monday, October 22, 2012. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 7, 1929 the only child of Pearl and Arthur Balzow. She was a loving and devoted mother of three children.

She graduated from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin High School, attended Carroll College in Waukesha, WI and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and a Master of Arts in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin (Madison, WI) in 1952.

Beverly took a position as Junior Cataloger in 1952 at Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. Two years later she joined the University of Illinois (Champaign, IL) as a Cataloger. There she met her husband John. They married in 1955 and moved to Wadsworth, OH.

After 15 years as a stay-at-home mother of her children Mark, Sue and Greg, she joined the Catalog Department of the University of Akron in 1970. She later became Head of Original Cataloging with the rank of Assistant Professor of Bibliography.

Beverly was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Wadsworth, Wadsworth Women’s Club and a life member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband John with whom she celebrated 55 years of marriage, son Mark and her parents. She is survived by her daughter Sue of Wadsworth and son Greg of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Thursday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Friday at Trinity United Church of Christ, 215 High St. Wadsworth with Rev. Daniel Doty officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at Trinity United Church of Christ.
