Wayne A. Schmeltzer (WAS) , 89, of Wadsworth, passed away Tuesday June 28, 2016. He was born June 4, 1927 in Rittman to the late Michael and Zella Schmeltzer. Mr. Schmeltzer was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, in WWII and U.S. Air Force, in the Korea Conflict. He was a member of Northside Christian Church where he was a member of the Senior Saints, a lifetime member of Wadsworth V.F.W, Post 1089, Wadsworth American Legion Post 170, a member of the Wadsworth Honor Guard, a lifetime member of DAV, and was a retired Teamster. Wayne loved playing euchre, fishing , and watching NCIS. He always enjoyed his polkas.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sue on April 24, 2011, sister Wanda Arnold and brother Bob Schmeltzer.

Wayne is survived by two sons Doug (Laurie) Schmeltzer and Jeff Schmeltzer of Wadsworth, two granddaughters; Valerie (Dave) Welday and Emily (Jesse)Dollar and 3 great-grandchildren Evelyn, Olivia and Logan.And a very dear family friend Ronda Gault.

The family will receive friends 5-8pm Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth where funeral services will be conducted Saturday 11am with Pastor Ernie Graf officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in Ohio Western Reserve National cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Northside Christian Church, 7615 Ridge Rd., Wadsworth, OH 44281 or to the Wadsworth Honor Guard, 129 Main St. Wadsworth, OH 44281.
