Grace Winifred (Wall) Shanafelt, 104, passed away June 19, 2023. She was born on August 30, 1918 to the late Reason Deforest and Winifred Pearl (Tyler) Wall.

Grace was a 1936 graduate of Sharon High School. She married her husband, Herman Francis Shanafelt, on June 22, 1940. Grace enjoyed helping others, and was a Brownie Girl Scout Leader, as well as a member of the Southwest Sharon Ladies Aid, Rebekah Lodge of Wadsworth, and Material Girls Quilt Guild. She worked at Dress Brothers Grocery Store and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sharon Center.

She enjoyed quilting, reading, playing cards, and, above all, spending time with her family.

Grace is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Francis Shanafelt; daughter, Shirley Jean Beck, and 10 siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Jelen; son, Vivian (Ruth) Shanafelt; son, Dennis Shanafelt; daughter, Laurel (Kim) Talbott; son-in-law, Bill Beck. There are 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Wednesday, June 21 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 6462 Ridge Rd, Sharon Center, 44274. A funeral service will be held the next day at 11am on Thursday, June 22 at the church. Interment at Sharon Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Grace’s name may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Sharing Center.
