Scott Michael Smith went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 17th, 2012. Scott was born in Akron, OH on October 4, 1978 to Michael and Margo Smith. Scott graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1997. Scott joined the Army National Guard in 1997 and served his country for six years. He also graduated from The University of Akron in 2003 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Scott was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Monty and Gini Schenck; paternal grandfather, Leo E. Smith; cousin, Sarah Slone; and his unborn son.

Scott is survived by his wife, Megan Clifford Smith; daughters, Lily and Olivia, and son, Leo D; parents, Michael and Margo Smith; brothers Matt (Cindy) Smith, Dan Smith, Jordan (Carina) Smith; nephews Jackson and Maxton Smith; and grandmother, Bonnie Smith. Scott is also survived by his father-in-law, Delbert Clifford, mother-in-law, Linda Clifford, brother-in-law, Andrew Clifford; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of the family.

Scott loved life, especially his family and friends. His wife and kids were everything. He was not afraid to tell anyone how much he loved God, and he could always lend a listening ear to any situation. He always went out of his way to help a loved one in need, and never said no to any requests. He would often come home late from work, wake his kids up to wrestle, and head on out to help a friend with car trouble. Weekends and late nights were never off-limits if someone needed help. He and his business partner, Eric Garbe, had decided from the beginning that they would always opt to help any loved one in need, no matter the cost. They also worked with an honest heart, and went out of their way to stay late on Friday nights so other families would have safe cars to visit their loved ones or go on vacation. Scott could always find humor in any situation, and he loved to have drinks with friends and loved ones and laugh all night.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 21st from 4 pm to 8 pm at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth where a funeral service will be conducted on Friday, June 22nd at 11 am. Pastor Tony Livigni from Grace Church North Campus will be officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a fund for the kids in the name of Scott M Smith at any First Merit location.
