Don R. Snyder, Sr., age 79, went home to be with His Lord and Savior on September 10, 2015 with his loving and faithful wife at his side. Don was born on August 28, 1936 in Wadsworth, Ohio to the late John and Bessie (Stauffer) Snyder. He was a long time resident of the Wadsworth area.

Don was a 1954 graduate of Wadsworth High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-57 on the U.S.S. Halfbeak and Blenny diesel submarines. In 1959 Don began part-time farming which became a second job for much of his life. At one point he farmed two parcels, one on Rawiga Road in Seville and another in Valley City. In 1963, he took a job with PPG in Barberton. He worked many different facets of the chemical industry and was eventually promoted to technician. Don retired from farming in 1991 and PPG in 1992. Several years later, the man who knew how to work hard, came out of early retirement and took a job with the City of Wadsworth in the Street Division. He was proud to work for his favorite place in the world, the City of Wadsworth. He retired in 2003 and spent his final years battling Alzheimer’s with the incredible care of his wife, Louise. Don believed that God was good to him all the days of his life. He loved life and lived it abundantly. His quick wit and kind, humble personality made him a beloved friend by many. Don faithfully attended church his entire life. He attended Grace Church in Norton.

Surviving are his loving wife, Louise (Davis) Snyder; his six children, Nancy Zerucha (Anthony) of Wadsworth, Mary Kate Hafemann (Ray) of Toledo, OH, Don Robert Snyder, Jr. of Bowling Green, OH, Kristin Cruz of Sterling, VA, John S. Snyder of Chicago, IL, and Laura Lamm (Travis) of Ashburn, VA; his two stepsons, Jim Davis of Wadsworth, and Joe Davis of Grafton, MA; his 12 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He taught all of his children how to work hard, to value family and how important it was to have a sense of humor. Rest in Peace, Dad, we will truly miss you.

The family will receive friends 1-2pm Saturday at Grace Church, 3970 Cleveland Massillon Rd., Norton where a memorial service will be held at 2pm with Pastor Robert P. Combs officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1815 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313
