Dominick
Thomas
Sorrent
174 N Lyman St

Dominick Sorrent, the ultimate survivor, lost his battle with COVID pneumonia on Feb. 20, 2022. He was a passionate lover of life despite his twenty year journey with MS, along with various other struggles that he overcame. His greatest loves in this life were his family and his Catholic faith. If a person crossed either one, watch out: even from a wheelchair, he was a fearless defender. When he passed to the next life, Jesus told him, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Dominick is survived by his wife of 22 years, Jennifer; the pride and joy of his life, his children: Xavier, Madeline, Carley and Gus. He comes from a close knit family and is survived by his sister Stephanie, and brothers Jim and Joe Sorrent. The Giusti cousins are a significant part of his family, as well as his nieces and nephews: Amanda, Nicole, Katie, Josiah, Holly and Julian. He also loved the Metzger family, his in-laws, along with their families.

Dominick was actively involved at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, where he was a eucharistic minister, a lector, and a RCIA instructor. He often gave the church his time and talent as a graphic designer. He was trained at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in advertising design. His career spanned decades of agency work, where he met his wife, Jennifer; to his own studio, finishing his tenure at the University of Akron as an instructor and staff member. He won numerous Addie awards over the years as a creative director for his outstanding work. He was a kind, gentle, compassionate teacher, always patiently listening and mentoring his students.

Dominick was truly someone who loved life, often exclaiming, “This is the best! The very best!” And he meant it. Remember his joy in carrying his crosses, and see the beauty in suffering. Never, ever quit: Dominick never questioned his faith, loved with all he had, and feared nothing. He was the best, the very best.
