Ila Lourene “Lou” Sullivan (née Rogers), 88, of Wadsworth passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 9, at her home at The Village of St. Edwards in Wadsworth.

Born September 16, 1934, in Ritchie County, West Virginia, Lou was a 1956 graduate of the St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and she enjoyed a 35-year career as a registered nurse. Later in life, she was a dedicated volunteer with the local Hospice.

Lou is survived by sisters Helen Lamm (John) and Louise Underwood, son Dan Thomas (Barbara) of Melbourne, Florida, daughter Lori Snoke (Joe) of Wadsworth, son Brian Sullivan (Kimberly) of Huron; seven grandchildren, Jamey Elliott (Jason), Julie Warner, Kyle Snoke (Courtney), Allie Snoke and Reid, Alayna and Ava Sullivan; and six great-grandchildren, Alexis, Hannah and Nathan Elliott, Mea Warner and Carson and Koa Snoke. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Alfred Bay Sullivan; son Mark Alan Sullivan; and grandson-in-law Justin Warner.

Lou was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that more than anything else loved spending time with family. Her strength, generosity and quick wit will be fondly remembered and missed by all. She was an avid bridge player and loved baseball, enjoying many lifelong friendships made on annual trips to Cleveland baseball spring training sites in Florida and Arizona.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Lou’s good friends at St. Edward’s for their love and companionship.

Private services and a memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wadsworth United Methodist Church (195 Broad Street, Wadsworth, Ohio 44281).
