Pearl (Yoss) Swain, 90, of Wadsworth, died Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Rose Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation after a lengthy illness.

Everyone that knew Pearl knew she loved to keep busy—whether that was working outside in the yard or her garden, shopping for bargains with coupons at the ready, or her annual Christmas tradition making peanut brittle with her daughter, Andrea (a process she was very particular about). She always had something on the agenda. But, more than anything else, she filled her time with loved ones. She could be ornery and occasionally blunt, though she was always caring, willing to lend a hand, to gab on the phone for hours, or treat her grandkids to a movie or a special meal. She had a great laugh, too, a gift she’d often share with her family. Like her favorite plum wine, Pearl was sweet with just the right amount of tart.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence, Sr. and Louise Yoss; husband Fred (Mel) Swain; son Arthur Swain; brothers Bernard Yoss and Clarence Yoss Jr.; and sister Nina Benek.

She is survived by her daughter Andrea Swain; grandchildren Cameron and Tanner Scheetz, Leslie Swain and Jacob (Amanda) Swain; great-grandson Jack Swain; sister Donna Campbell; daughter-in-law Robyn Swain and many other family and friends.

A private family graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Pearl Swain to the Dementia Society of America (
