Leland E. Swinehart, 89, died September 2, 2014. Leland was born January 9, 1925 in Wadsworth to the late Bert and Pearl Swinehart.

A lifetime resident of Wadsworth, Leland graduated from Wadsworth High School, Class of 1943. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII and then married his high school sweetheart Constance “Connie” June 25, 1945. He was a longtime member of Wadsworth United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing, cooking, Saturday morning breakfast with friends, also enjoyed traveling with his wife. He was also involved with The Boy Scouts of America. Leland was a retiree of A&P Tea Company and also worked for Piatt Windows and Doors. He was a member of the Masons.

Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Constance, son Barry Swinehart, daughter-in-law Pat Swinehart, brother Charles Swinehart, and Nephew Jerry Swinehart. He is survived by his daughter Rhonda (Mark) DeBolt of Mansfield; grandchildren Jennifer (Matt) Rettker of Crown Point, IN, Jackie (Joel) Smith of Northwood, OH, Bryan (Holly) DeBolt of Mansfield, OH; great-grandchildren Alex, Aubrey and Abbey Rettker, Camden, Quinten, Griffin and Jameson DeBolt and Kellen and Hailey Smith and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday 1 to 4 PM at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman Street in Wadsworth and Monday 10 to 11 AM at Wadsworth United Methodist Church, 195 Broad Street in Wadsworth, where Pastor Donald L. Ebert, Jr. will conduct a memorial service at 11 AM. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wadsworth United Methodist Church.
