Teach a youth about the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6

James William (Bill) Taggart, 74, of Wadsworth, Ohio, passed away on November 17, 2018, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was born in New Castle, PA, on December 16, 1943, to Arthur R. and Ruth Humphrey Taggart. He graduated from Har-Brack High School, Natrona Heights, PA, in 1961, where he met his wife, Elaine (Kennedy). The two were married on July 1, 1966. Bill received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State, his Masters of Business Administration from Penn State, and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Akron.

Bill taught business law at The University of Akron for over 30 years. During his tenure, Bill served as a member of the faculty senate, was an Associate Dean of the Community and Technical College, and led student advising. Bill believed strongly in the power of education and was a well-respected professor and colleague.

A passionate teacher, Bill invested deeply in his sons. He found common ground with each, sharing a passion for literature and a deep interest in business. Bill touched the lives of many young people through Indian Guides, as a Scout Master, and as a mentor. His love for boating led Bill to become a Power Squadron instructor and Commodore of the Sandusky Yacht Club.

Most of all, Bill loved the LORD. Throughout his life, Bill served God’s church as a kind and soft-spoken mentor, Bible Study leader, deacon, and church council member.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elaine, son James W. Taggart of Philadelphia, PA, son Matthew A. (Linda) Taggart of Pleasanton, CA, and grandchildren Clara and Joseph.

The family suggests donations to Village of Hope, Uganda (www.villageofhopeuganda.com <http://www.villageofhopeuganda.com>) or Northside Christian Church in Wadsworth, OH.

Viewing hours are Friday, November 23, from 4 to 7 PM at Hilliard Rospert in Wadsworth. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 24, at 11 AM, with an hour of viewing before the service. The service will be held at Northside Christian Church.
