Benigna “Bonnie” Vaglica, of Wadsworth OH, passed away on July 21st in Boca Raton FL at 94 years old. Bonnie was born March 1st 1926 in Sicily, Italy. Wife of Frank “Franco’s” Vaglica, he proceeded her in death. She is survived by daughter Frances Vaglica Kelly and son-in-law Matthew Kelly of Wadsworth, her son John Vaglica of Boca Raton, FL, her grandson Drew Kelly of Wadsworth, her granddaughter Nina Kelly of Columbus, and her great granddaughter Valentine Kelly of Wadsworth. She is proceeded in death by her sister Anna, and survived by her neices and nephews.
She emigrated to the United States in 1951, meeting her father for the first time. Shortly after returning to Italy, marrying her husband, and then emigrating back in 1953. Frank followed Bonnie to America a year later. Their family would return to Italy for the summer for many years to come.
The couple opened Franco’s Pizza in 1960 in downtown Wadsworth. While Frank was the name and personality, Bonnie was the heart and soul of the restaurant. Working full time as the chef of the restaurant, and as an amazing mother to her two children.
Bonnie ensured her family remained close to their Italian heritage. She taught them what it meant to love unconditionally, to work hard, and the importance of family. She was loved by so very many, and will be missed by them all. She is certainly happy to be reunited with her husband, as they watch over the family they built together.
Due to the nature of Bonnie’s death, and the trying times we are all living through, a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Her family wishes that everyone stay safe, and take care of each other.
