Obituary
Pauline Von Gunten, 92, passed away peacefully Monday, January 15, 2018 at Hospice of Medina County. She was born April 6,1925 in Akron, Ohio to Andrew and Ida Suchek. She was a life long member of Mount Zwingli United Church of Christ where she was active with Ladies Aide Quilters. Known as the “Gravy Lady”, Pauline worked many Swiss Steak Dinners.
She worked more than 40 years before retiring from Marsh & McLennan Insurance Company. During her tenure, Pauline served as president of Insurance Women of Ohio.
Pauline was a vivacious energetic woman with a kind generous heart and a warm smile. She enjoyed square dancing and had many other interests. She loved cooking while managing to find time for knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, embroidery, and basket weaving. Her skills as a seamstress were demonstrated profusely over the years. She shared her love of adventure and travel with friends and family. An avid reader, she enjoyed great books all her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Von Gunten, daughter Kim Heath, and sisters Ida Buchanan, Evelyn Rodenbucher, Rosalie Suchek, and Ruth Zintel Pauline is survived by her beloved tireless niece Jill (Gene) Nagy, devoted son-in-law Jim Heath, her son Mark (Dorothy) Von Gunten, sister-in-law Faye Hill , friend Linda D’Amico, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 4-7pm Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Hilliard Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mt Zwingli UCC, 2172 S. Medina Line Rd., Wadsworth. Interment at Mt. Zwingli Cemetery.
