Obituary
Joyce Bendette Weber, R.N., age 79, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2018 at Altercare of Wadsworth surrounded by her loving family. She arrived in this world on January 20, 1939 to the late Paxton G. Arnold and Loye O. Watkins (Evan) in Morgantown, WV. She grew up in Kingwood and Terra Alta, WV before finally settling in Canal Fulton, OH for almost 50 years. For the past six years, she was a resident of Wadsworth, OH.
She graduated from Kingwood High School (WV) in 1956. A graduate of Camden Clark Hospital’s Nursing Program in Parkersburg, WV in 1959, Joyce worked as an operating room nurse serving patients at Akron City Hospital, Barberton City Hospital and finally at Mercy Medical Center from where she would eventually retire. Family was always first in her life. She believed in the power of education. As an active member of the Canal Fulton community, she was involved in the Canal Fulton Garden Club, the Northwest Junior Baseball League and the Northwest Stark Senior Center. Her hobbies included cooking, spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing bridge and other card games with her beloved friends and family, puzzles, travelling and casino trips. She especially loved attending special events with her family and friends and attending athletic contests of her grandchildren and touching the lives of all those who were fortunate to have grown to be friends with her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Joseph R. Weber. She is survived by her three sons Joseph (Candi) Weber, Jeffrey (Barbie) Weber, James (Kris) Weber, sister, Judy Suess Menear, and grandchildren Daylyn (Scott) Miller, Jessica (Jim) Frazee, April (Ron) Greathouse, Jacob, Lauren, Meghan, Joe, Anna Marie, Stephanie and Tommy, and great grandchildren Braxton, Brayden, Audrey and Brantly. Her family is touched with the love, kind words and support that has already been shown by all of those whom Joyce knew. Joyce and her family would like to especially thank the nurses and aides of both Altercare of Wadsworth and of Coal Ridge Assisted Living in Wadsworth for their friendship, love, exceptional service, kindness and comfort provided the past six months.
Calling hours will be held at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home located at 174 North Lyman Street Wadsworth, OH on Friday, February 16 from 6-8 PM. A celebration Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Father Joseph Labak, celebrant on Saturday, February 17 at 9:30 AM, located at 260 Broad Street Wadsworth, OH 44281. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron, Ohio.
