Charley Wellman Jr., age 90 of Wadsworth, passed away on April 30, 2021. He was born in Wayne, W.Va. on April 17, 1931 to the late Charley Wellman and Blanche Allif Wellman.
Charley was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a CPL during the Korean War. He served as a deacon at Ridgewood Baptist Church in Wadsworth, and retired from Consolidated Freight after 40 years of service. In his spare time, Charley enjoyed restoring antique automobiles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Blanche Wellman; siblings, Bessie Foreman, Bertha Banfield, Myrtie Banfield, Russell Wellman, Ralph Wellman and Orpha Conger, and is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 65 years, Phyllis Wellman; son, Randy (Kelly) Wellman and grandchildren, Drew and Abby Wellman; daughter, Sheila Wellman Pinkerton and grandchildren, Kristofor (Caci) Pinkerton, Kaitlin (Kenny) Owens; and great-granddaughter, Korrie Owens.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 6th, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ridgewood Baptist Church, 7891 Ridge Rd., Wadsworth, OH 44281, where funeral service will take place at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Tom Murrell officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
