Doris M. (DeGroot) Wheeland, 81 of Wadsworth passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012. She was born July 17, 1930 in Mayville, ND to the late Berthen and Arvilla Thompson. Mrs. Wheeland was a member of the Ambassador Baptist Church, was retired from Brenneman’s Pharmacy in 1983 after 16 years of service and was an avid crossword puzzle worker and reader. She was preceded in death by her first husband Wybrandt C. “Bill” DeGroot in 1990, her second husband Robert E. Wheeland in 1998, one brother and one sister and her sister-in-law Myrtle Thompson. Doris is survived by her children: Diane Artrip of Wadsworth, Michael (Melinda) DeGroot of Hempstead, TX, Joyce (Ron) Russell of Wadsworth and Debra (Jim) DeGroot of Destin, FL. There are 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers Merwin and Keith Thompson and many nieces & nephews also surviving. The family will receive friends 5-8 pm Thursday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth where funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday with Pastors Michael Decker and Wayne Lafollette officiating. Internment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
