William Edison Wiley, 72, of Akron died Monday November 24, 2014, at his home.
He was born November 4, 1942, in Wadsworth to the late Roger O Wiley and Lois (Edison) Wiley.
Mr. Wiley attended Wadsworth High School (class of 1961) and Ohio University. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era and retired from Parker Hannifin with 32 years service. William belonged to many local and national clubs and organizations that involved his special interests of motorcycles, antique radios, clocks, phonographs and music keyboards ( pianos, harpsichords, organs). He built a single and double manual harpsichord and repaired/tuned pianos. His love of classical music was often heard throughout the house with his Bose set on WCLV. He was a ‘wheeler-dealer’ and had a love for vintage items especially his 1920’s GE Refrigerating Machine. Regular visits were made to estate sales and flea markets over the years. Bill also had a green thumb and enjoyed cactus plants, elephant ears, hosta, rhubarb and clematis which he shared with friends.
He is survived by his sister, Christine Griffith of Peoria, IL, and cousin Robert Wiley (Jeannie) of Laramie, WY.
Visitation will be at 12:00 Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church, 146 High St. Wadsworth, and services will be held at 1:00 pm with Rev Daniel J Cammarn officiating. Inurnment will be at 2:30 in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with Military Honors.
