Doris M. Williams, 87, of Wadsworth passed away Tuesday, July 24. She was born to the late Ethel and James Slinger in Akron, OH on February 7, 1925.

Doris was a very active church member and a volunteer with the Salvation Army. She was also a member of the Alter Guild, the Barberton Women’s Club, the Red Hat Society, and The Bunko Group.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Richard D. Williams, and her brother, Brian Cawthorne.

Doris is survived by her children, Carol (Howard) Schlitt of Norton, David Williams of Parma, Deborah (John) Dixon of Akron, James (Angela) Williams of Westerville; grandchildren, Jason Williams, John (Danielle) Schlitt, Suzanne Schlitt, Mark Williams, Katherine Williams; many great-grandchildren; brother, J. Dale (Patty) Cawthorne of Fort Pierce, FL; and other extended family members.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 27 from 4-8PM at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, OH 44281. Funeral service will take place Saturday, July 28 at 11AM at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 146 College St., Wadsworth, OH 44281 with Reverend Allan Belton officiating. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mark’s or a charity of one’s choosing.
