Wilson, Louis Russell
Russ
Wilson
Copley, OH

Russ, 60, was reunited with the Lord, and all of those who preceded him in death, on the evening of July 29. He was born in Akron on December 12, 1951, and was raised in Wadsworth. After high school, he began his collegiate career at Ohio Wesleyan College, and later transferred to The Ohio State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. After graduating from The Ohio State University, he returned to Wadsworth and began his teaching career. His love for basketball brought him to Pennsylvania, where he was the assistant coach on the Allegheny’s men’s basketball team.
Eventually, Russ decided to further his education, and obtained his Master’s Degree in Education at Kent State University. With that, he became the coordinator of academic advising at The University of Akron, Wayne College. He worked at the college for over 20 years, and thoroughly enjoyed working with students and helping them plan their futures. Shortly after obtaining his Master’s Degree, he married his love of 7 years, and they built an amazing life with their daughter and beloved pets. Together, they traveled and made wonderful memories. He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoyed reading, and, in addition to basketball he also enjoyed golfing. One of Russ’s greatest passions was music. Some of his favorite musicians were Bob Dylan and The Band. Russ was a social butterfly and made friends everywhere he went. He was loved by many, and will be remembered and missed by everyone whose life he touched.

“To live is to love, to laugh, and to cry. Live for today but never ask why, you have survived while others must die. Live for you; Live strong and true. Make them proud, as they watch from the sky, but never, ever, be ashamed to cry.”

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 5-7 PM at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth where funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM.
