Obituary
Gerald O. Wright, 87, of Wadsworth, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016. He was born December 8, 1928 in LeRoy, OH to the late Oliver and Vira Wright. Mr. Wright was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a very active volunteer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, was one of the founders of the Sacred Heart St. Vincent DePaul Society, and was the founder of the volunteer cleaning staff at the church. In his youth, he had the privilege to caddy for Ben Hogan at Firestone Country Club. Mr. Wright was selfless and always put others before himself. He projected this by his volunteer work, serving as president of the Red Cross and by being one of the top blood donors in Ohio, having donated more that 100 gallons of blood and for that he received a special award. Mr. Wright retired in 1991 from the Westfield Insurance Company where he served as Vice-President of Accounting.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ann C. Wright on December 22, 2011 and three sisters Bernice McPartland, Pat Emmons and Eleanor Carey.
Gerald is survived by three children and their spouses who blessed him with 8 grandchildren:
Kim and Brad Steward of Wadsworth and their son Lance, Kathy and John “Buck” Budinscak of Wadsworth and their children: Zachary and Lisa of Cleveland, Cory of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kevin and Joy Wright of Medina and their children Madelynn, Lillian, Jenna and Tristan, one brother Donald Wright and one sister Sue Walker.
There are many nieces nephews and dear friends also surviving.
The family will receive friends 5-8PM, Tuesday at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. Wadsworth. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 272 Broad St., Wadsworth with Fr. Joseph L. Labak, Celebrant. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society or to Hospice of Medina.
